Your studies are private. This page explains exactly what leaves your device and what does not.

Without an account

You can use Pray It In without signing in. Your studies are stored only in your browser on this device. Nothing about them is sent to us. If you clear your browser data or lose the device, the studies are gone, so make a backup from Settings from time to time.

With an account or a sync key

Sync keeps your studies on several devices. Each study is encrypted on your device before it is sent. The key that unlocks it never leaves your devices, so we cannot read your studies, and neither can our hosting provider.

To make sync work, our server stores:

  • your email address, if you sign in with email (a sync key needs no email);
  • a check value made from your password, and your sync key locked with your password, so you can sign in on a new device (we never receive the password itself);
  • your encrypted studies, each with a random ID, the time it was last changed, and whether it was deleted.

So we can see how many studies an account has and when they changed, but not what they say. When you sign in, you can choose whether studies already on the device go to your account or stay on the device only.

Your email address is used only to send sign-in codes. We do not send newsletters or share it.

Anonymous usage totals

To see whether the app helps people, we keep a few daily totals: new devices, new accounts, devices that opened the app that day, and studies filed. The totals are split by country and by hour of the day on your own clock. They contain no names, emails, device IDs or internet addresses. When we report them, any country with fewer than three people is grouped as "Other".

There are no ads, no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics scripts.

Internet addresses

Your internet address is used to look up your country for the totals above. It is also kept for up to two days to stop abuse, such as too many sign-in attempts or uploads. It is never linked to your studies, your account or the totals.

Feedback

If you send feedback, your message, your country and the email you give (if any) are emailed to an AI assistant service we use to read and sort feedback, and from there to us so we can answer it. The app itself does not keep a copy. Please do not put anything private from your studies in feedback.

Services we use

Pray It In runs on Cloudflare, which hosts the app, stores the encrypted sync data and sends sign-in emails. Like any host, Cloudflare processes requests to deliver the service. Links to Bible Gateway open their site, which has its own privacy policy.

On your device

The app stores your studies and a few settings, such as whether you have seen the welcome, in your browser's storage. It does not use cookies.

Deleting your data

In Settings, "Delete my account" erases your cloud copy and your sign-in from our server. Studies on each device stay there until you delete them or clear the browser's data. Sign-in codes and abuse counters expire on their own.
